U.S.-EAC Private Sector Trade Facilitation Priorities
The U.S. and East Africa business communities have agreed to partner to improve trade facilitation in East Africa, which will reduce the cost and time to get goods to market and enhance opportunities for trade and investment. This interest is reflected in the work of the Corporate Council on Africa (CCA) and East African Business Council (EABC), with trade facilitation highlighted as a priority in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signed by the two organizations in September 2013.
The following recommendations were developed through consultation with the private sectors in both the United States and EAC countries presented at the CCA Leading the Way in U.S. Africa Investment Business Forum, the partners agree that the recommendations below reflect the following priorities, all of which should guide future work together…
